Whimsical Wooden Cat Earrings

Very cute earrings! I like that they are different; one is a boy and one is a girl. The earrings are made of wood and the designs are painted on. They are unmarked, but I recently saw a set of similar earrings that were marked "Thailand".

Fused Glass Platter - Peggy Karr

Gorgeous fused glass platter with a wonderful cat design!

The platter is approximately 14" diameter. The design is two cats - one orange tabby, one black and white - sitting next to a traditional style birdhouse and two brilliantly colored sunflowers. The birdhouse has one visitor - a yellow green and peach bird is sitting on the perch, beak open in cheerful song. A black and white checkerboard border design is around the rim.

The piece is unsigned, but I believe it to be a Peggy Karr design.

Byers' Choice Caroling Cat Figurine

I grew up not far from Chalfont, Pennsylvania, where Byers' Choice is located, and never new it was there! I see they offer tours of their factory and I'm planning to visit there soon.

Byers' Choice is known for their beautiful handcrafted Carolers figurines. They have other well known lines such as Williamsburg and Halloween figurines.

This little cat is from The Carolers and is dated 2006. He is handmade and hand finished, as are all of the Byer's Choice figures. This particular figurine is approximately 3-1/2" tall x 1-1/2" wide x 2" deep, on a 3-1/4" diameter base. His mouth is open in song.

Guest Cat - Princess in a Bowl

It is hard to believe that my little tabby Princess was ever small enough to fit inside this mid-century crackle glass bowl by Blenko, but she was! This was one of her favorite hang-outs, until she could no longer fit.
I love this photo of her!

Sterling Silver Modernist Cat Pin Marked ND

Wonderful whimsical mid-century modern sterling silver cat pin!

The back of the pin is marked "ND 925". My original research showed that this mark was from Naura Design of Denmark. In trying confirm this research, I saw that there is a possibility that the mark could be from Norway Designs, although the ND in that mark usually includes a plus sign. I am trying to find more information about the Danish Naura Design and will update you when I find it.

Love those eyebrow whiskers!

Arabia of Finland Cat Jug designed by Kaj Franck

Wonderfully whimsical smiling cat pitcher or milk jug, designed by Kaj Franck in the 1960s for Arabia of Finland.

The jug is about 5-1/4" tall x 6-3/4" (from handle to end of pouring lip) x 4" diameter jug. It is a creamy white with a gorgeous green and blue cat, tail tucked under his feet.

This was a fantastic find for me, as I am both a cat lover and fan of mid-century Scandinavian art!

Hagen-Renaker Black Bisque Small Flat Face Cat

I just love this Haken-Renaker Black Bisque Small Flat Face Cat figurine!

The Flat Face Cat is approximately 3-3/4" tall x 1-1/2" wide x 2" deep. The small cat is a dark matte black bisque pottery, with blue-green enamel decoration and white markings. He has the gorgeous modern lines, sense of humor and design typical of the Black Bisque line.

According to the book Hagen-Renaker Through the Years by Nancy Kelly, the line was produced for one year only - 1959. I'm not sure who designed this piece, but Ms. Kelly mentions that some of the designers of the Black Bisque line were Tom Masterson, Will Climes, Helen Perrin Farnland, and Maureen Love. The Flat Face Cat was produced in several sizes - a slightly larger size is pictured on page 29 of the book.

I found a list, with drawings and names of each Black Bisque piece, at a website called Purple Mountains, and found it to be a great resource.

Welcome!

I am a cat lover and over the years have amassed a large collection of cat memorabilia. Cattadoodle is my way of sharing my cataloging and sharing my cats with other "cat people". I hope you enjoy viewing my collection!
